Ok, so I've mentioned on here before about my dh going back to school and how stressed I was. Well, scratch that. After a few loooonnnngggggg talks, we decided to skip the middle man. He is just going to go into business for himself. He was only going to school so that he could make enough money to open a business. But, we have the money for school to put into the business. Ha. We are super excited. He started 'officially' (he did 2 jobs before we postponed school) last Monday and he has already made over 2 Months salary Shocked And If this doesn't work out, school is always an option. But at least we will have tried. I'm just really excited. If things keep going this way. We should be in our own house and I can quit by next summer Shocked Mind you I'm not getting my hopes up. I just wanted to fill everyone in!

He is a welder/fabricator. So, right now he's doing a mobile welder/fabricator/installation. We have some more expensive equipment to buy, but we found a work bay for super cheap and things are really getting off to a good start. Hopefully it continues this way.

Thats good... Im so happy for you guys. My dh has been talking more and more about starting his own business, but the construction business in our area is pretty cut throat and we have only been in the area for a year.

Good luck to both of you Laughing

I was a little hesitant because the construction in this area is really starting to slow. In a big way. But, he's doing it on not only a commercial scale, but also residential. Which is were the money is. You can get someone to come to your house to weld or customize anything around here...until now.

What does your dh do?

girlfromdasticks~What is your husband doing? How long have you guys been running the business?

He builds houses. He just finished an 8000 sq ft house complete with a 3000 square foot deck. These people are ridiculously rich. His company has built it from the pilings up as well as the trim and finish work. He really likes to do decks and trim.

What kind of things does your husband weld. I really have no clue about that field.

Good for you! I hope it goes well! My dh started his own company 4 years ago and it has been going very well for him. He does skylights but is also a Gen. contractor and licensed roofer.

we..or should i say my dh flips condos/houses. i know that the market for flipping is really bad everywhere else, but here in austin it is at very high demand. the city is growing fast. right now he still has a boss, but he is helping him out a great deal to get him on his feet to be able to work alone. we are working on a unit of condos (that use to be apts), and he will be doing a few houses here soon.
