i am a 31 year old white male. dont smoke , don't drink, weight about 193lbs. and im about 5'11" tall . last year i was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am currently taking linsopril 20/25 mg tablets one per day. my problem is that i am unsure if i may be getting ready to have a heart attack. my blood pressure on this medication is good, usually 107 over 75 area sometimes lower sometimes higher. I am having trouble sleeping at night, ill wake up and quickly check my pulse to see if my heart is still beating. this is accentuated by strange feelings....kinda like warm sensations in my chest(unsure if they are caused by my own fight or flight response to waking up in that situation). the last two weeks i have been having a hard time breathing , almost like i have pressure on my chest as well as seemingly less lung capacity. i went to the urgent care center for my doctor and they did a chest xray, ekg(i think that is what it was called) and a breathing treatment(i also have asthma). the only thing they told me was that i had a slight fever when i arrived , and that i may have a brochial condition. they prescribed azithromiacine in which i am currently taking. I just woke up and it is 2am(i do this often). as i was waking up i checked my pulse(note that i do not know how to take pulse rate by hand, was just checking to see if my heart was beating). with each heart beat for about a minute i felt a corrisponding faint pain .....not very bad but still noticable. i checked my pulse on my meter and it was 99 over 66. in the past month i have also gotten winded goin up on flight of stairs at my apartment building as well as disiness as i stand up once or twice. im not getting any sleep at night cause im worrying so much .im going to work full time , going to school at night and trying to be a dad to three children in my offtime. i really need some advice on whether i need to be really concerned. my wife just thinks i am paranoid, and i believe i am to a extent , but a friend of mine died at my age on his birthday due to high blood pressure and i feel that i have every right to be concerned. my primary doctor told me not to come in until i finish the meds from the urgent care doc. should i get a referel to a heart specialist ? what is wrong with me? i also notice that i can feel my heart beating one second then i cant feel it a second later and i have to check my wrist. should i wait the week to finish the meds or insist on seeing the doc asap?
thanks,
going crazy

Extremely eHealthy
Sorry this is late and maybe hopefully you are still around. I have to agree that this may be starting to get to be a compulsary behavior for you. I know, it happend to me. I also have hypertension. I say this, if you are uncomfortable enough with a symtom, then you are comfortable enough to see a doctor about it to rule out anything it may be. I say see a cardiologist, even if it is just to ease your mind.

Wishing you the best,
Carrie
