I think the only difference is that it's chewable. Since it's still got all the hormones, I'd say you probably shouldn't use it when you're breastfeeding. I've heard you're supposed to wait 6 months before getting back on birth control- but of course your doc can tell you for sure.

I don't think there is a real agreement about taking birth control while breastfeeding, but generally they say to avoid it.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard of it and it does sound more convenient!

I'm on Femcon fe... it's by warner chilcott. It's basically a chewable version of the discontinued Ovcon-35. It has 35 mcg of estrogen (a medium dose), and a relatively low dose of norethindrone for progestin. It's low in androgenic activity, making it good for acne and hirsutism.

If you chew it, you have to drink 8 oz of liquid afterwards. I just swallow mine.

it's the first/only bc I've been on, I tried going on it twice in the last half year or so but would quit after the first pack because of constant headaches, and other side effects. My breasts were sore, I suspected it interfered with my ability to get turned on, I had some breakthrough bleeding. So I'd go on it a month, go off for a month or two, and go on for another month. Like I said, I did this twice. I was off for maybe two or three months and I decided once and for all to go back on it and stay on it and see if the side effects went away... I'm into my third week on it and whaddya know no headaches or side effects really, other than a tiny bit of spotting (it may be interfering with my libido a little bit, but this could be attributable to other meds I'm on). I think my body may have adjusted a bit from my other attempts of going on it. I don't know if I was imagining it or what, but last time i went on it towards the end of the pack I thought it was starting to clear my acne up, which is the official reason I am on it. So now I just sit and wait and see if it clears my skin up

Femcon fe is what i was taking for a month or so. Even though i was only on it for a short period of time, i have nothing bad to say about it except that i had horrible periods. i guess its called breakthrough bleeding but every period i had lasted atleast 12 days with femcon fe. (I was regular before i started taking it) it is a chewable pill and does have a mint flavor, not too bad actually. Also i think it cleared up my face i never had pimples when i was taking it. oh yea and it made my boobs really sore the first couple weeks of taking it

It is because they shun hormones,a nd the safety of the IUD is amazing =)

I think there are only a handful of BC pills that are approved for use while breastfeeding. I've had a bad reaction to BC pills in general in the past, so after the birth of our daughter I opted to skip pills altogether and rely on condoms instead.

But the IUD would definitely be a good choice. I don't think it's really surgical - I think they stick you in the stirrups and put it in that way. But I've never had one fitted, so I'm only guessing.

i have OCD and whenever i swallow a pill (even midol when i used to take it) i would have horrible anxiety attacks and stuff

No... it's not surgically inserted OR removed. They just reach up there and pull on the strings. It comes out similar to a tampon. Goes in similarly, too.

except without the strings sticking out like a tampons does?

Nope. There are two strings and they're normally an inch or so in length.

nuvaring is good for those that dont like the pill everyday thats what im on now on there website they have something you download to remind you when to do what which is a plus!!! but my acne is still acting up so i think im going to change to the chewable one.. or Yasmin those are the 2 ive heard are best for acne
