Hi,

I am new. I just had a partial hysterectomy August 6, 2007. I have endometriosis and was glued together throughout my bowels. My rectom she said was glued to my bladder. My ovaries were okay and I chose to keep them so I wouldnt have to take estrogen. Probably a bad choice but with all the horror stories about estrogen I wanted to make my own if I could. The surgery was hell to say the least. The 1st week was dealing with the pain from the surgery. The 2nd week was full of bladder and rectal spasms. Now on week 3 I have had major problems with gas. I does not seem to move and I have tons of it. I have now problem having a bowel movent...in fact I have at least 2 a day. Its just the gas. It seems to get trapped and does not move no matter how much walking and moving around I do. After a nights rest is when seems to move ( in the morning). I have tried Gas-X, Mylanta, Maalox. Has anyone had this problem????? Give me some tips on what to do??? Does it go away ever??? I am getting so stressed out. I wonder what week 4 will bring????? Confused

Hysterectomy And Bowel M.
Hi,I had a hystrecomy 6 weeks ago,and had intestinal cramps, but i change my diet ,and help a lot, every day i eat oatmeal in the mor ning,,activia yogurt during the day, salad with every meal, and i tried to eat orange o tangarines every day;that way my intestine are moving and not "clog",because remember, the intestine is like a hose around 9 meters long, inside you, you give more fiber the less you intestine will be pushing your scars inside you or other organs;i hope this help a little to feel better.

Hysterectomy And Bowel M.
Hi I am going through the same things been almost 8 weeks since my surgery. 2/20/09. I still have cramps and a great deal of gas. And Bowels movement problems and some pain and pressure while urinating. Is it always gonna be a pain situation forever. I can't wear my regular clothes cause any pressure on the area of my incision is painful. Even the lightest such as underwear. Was glad to see not alone! THANKS!!!

It does take a while to get your body back..The incision is painful and will be for a long time...They do so much work around the bowels and inner parts...If you are like I was and had the cervix taken out too, this is again more surgery...Give yourself time....I am not talking about days but weeks...Look at one week at a time instead of one day....6 months from now you will feel much better....

I had the same problem with all of the things you speak about....I recall a group of my friends took me out to lunch 8 weeks after the surgery and I had a hard time sitting down at the table...Everything just plain hurt...

Good luck and you will do just fine...Just give me a hollar if you have any other questions...

This is one thing that you have to deal with on a Hysterectomy...It actually affects all internal surgery...The gas and bowel movements are very painful...Get lots of fiber and liquid in your diet...This really does help...Good luck and be happy that it is over....
