I have extreme farsightedness--my contact
persciption is +22 in each eye. I usually
wear contacts as opposed to glasses
because I develop a sever case of dry eye
when I read with the glasses for any
length of time. But, as you can imagine,
such thick RGP contacts aren't all that
comfortable and often irritate my eyes.
Vision-wise the glasses are better for
straight-away vision but, of course, the
contacts give better peripheral vision and
create less distortions. Does anybody
know, from a health perspective, whether
it is better for someone in my situation
to wear glasses or contacts? Various eye
doctors have said that there is no real
difference, but I'm skeptical.
In general, if there are any forum
participants who have extreme
farsightedness I would be interested to
hear how they have dealt with discomfort
caused by RGP lenses or problems caused by
wearing thick glasses.
