Mu husband recently had a mild stroke (tia) and although fully recovered, still has some numbness/tingling on his right side......Lip. Cheek, and hand. He has lost his sense of taste, as well. Will this return?

Tia
I've had two short episodes of partial blindness in my left eye which resolves in less than 5 minutes. When I spoke with my doctor about this she suggested I have aspirin around. Though I know aspirin can help in time of a stroke I wonder if I don't need a work up to clarify the cause of these tias. I am in excellent physical health, I have very well controlled hypertension (lisinopril 15 mg), have a beautiful lipid profile, don't smoke and don't drink excessively. Can any one advise me? Thanks.

Bonnie - a tia has to be considered serious and monitered closely. My husband suffered a stroke years ago, and a tia was the warning before hand. He's suffered maybe a couple since, we're not sure as these *mini strokes* do not show up on cat scans, and he's never regained full use of hand, fingers etc. The numbness/tingling stayed. The sense of taste may return...Everyone's different.

Susan...Definately get it checked out. Aspirin is for stroke prevention and has to be taken consitantly to do this.

Bonnie,

take these signs seriously and seek medical attention.

My husband did not and it eventually lead to a massive stroke.

He suffered it oct, 2005. Spent three weeks in icu, under went brsin surgery to let the swelling in his brain go down. They removed part of the skull for 6 weeks and then replaced it.

He spent from oct-early january in the hospital and then spent from january to may in an acute rehabilitation facility.

Mid may we moved to florida from nyc...Here he has undergone 2 months of therapy and now walks with a quad cane, but still has no use of his left arm

i really plead with you people that have any signs of stroke to get it checked out and as soon as possible.
