Q: Severe Stomach Upset With Antibiotics

Does anyone have advice on how to lessen stomach upset with antibiotics?
I am on my second round of them in 6 weeks after 2 bouts with diverticulitis. Am allergic to several and the ones I can take give me SEVERE stomach upset. I usually get sicker from the meds than from what I was taking them for. I know the usual advice - take them with food, etc., but nothing works. Diverticulitis can have complications so I have to take them. Someone recommended yogurt? Does this work, or anymore advice? Last time I was in bed for 8 days with no solid food - the first two days from the diverticulitis and the last 6 because of the meds!
Any help is appreciated.

I have alot of stomach pain with antibootics. Yogurt does help, bc it has good bacteria in it. But as long as you're still on the drugs, they will just kill off that good bacteria too. When you finish the round, it's very important to replenish your good bacteria asap. You can buy acidolphilus or eat yogurt. Just make sure it says "contains live cultures" on the label. Another thing that really helps me with stomach pain is a supplement called "gastrex" by Standard Process. It like coats your stomach with this soothing stuff. It works! Other than that, try antacids. Hope this helps.
