Embarassed okay so I tried to find some other with symptom like mine, I found a few but age was a major difference. I am having a severe pain underneath my right rib cage. It has bothered me for a few years. The pain normally goes away after a few minutes, but this morning I woke up and couldn't sit up, breathe or cough without the pain becoming unbearable! I have a huge fear of doctors and hospitals because of previous experiences so I am tried to avoid by all means going to the E. R. Because I know they will have to use many needles and I will most likely leave there not knowing a thing because "They don't know what could be wrong!!" Normally the pain subsides and I can't continue my day with no interruptions. Not today! I also think I may have an over-active bladder, could this be part of the pain under my ribs?!? The pain lessens when I shift my body around in bed but only for a moment then its just as bad as before. I have already had my appendix removed, and I don't think it could be my kidneys because the pain doesn't go around to my back it is located in one spot and doesn't dispense elsewhere. Could I try to sleep it off or should i rush in to the E. R. Coughing, talking, laughing. moving, descending and climbing stairs , even shifting my weight to the right side hurts. I would like a few opinions before I decide what the best course of action would be!! Please help!

Sayroc, if you have had it for a very long time it most probably is nothing serious. Just go to your regular doc, not the ER, which is for Emergencies. At your family doc they wont stick you with needles and mostly will just ask you a lot of questions. It sounds like muscle pain to me which is no big deal. Some people have certain muscles that get aggravated easily.
