Q: Ectopic Pregnancy???? Help!
asked by: anna_96 on August 23rd, 2007

I am around 5 weeks pregnant and have some light spotting (brown not red in color) on and off. No cramping. I was told light spotting can be a sign of an ectopic.

I had a blood test to confirmed my pregnant and it was positive. My HCG levels did double in 48 hours. Can an ectopic pregnancy still happen if the HCG level have double? I am scared!!

don't worry yourself, some woman have spotting the first few weeks of pregnancy. the only way to tell if it is an ectopic is an ultrasound. and rising HCG is normal over the first half of the pregnancy. You should be more worried of an ectopic if your levels were low.

Good Luck

Have you had sex any recently? When you're pregnant, your cervix is more sensitive due to increased blood flow. This can cause spotting and bleeding just from irritating the cervix. BTW, it's never good to go look up bleeding during pregnancy on the internet. All it will do is scare you. Trust me, been there done that.
