I'm currently staying in India, and having become sexually active very recently I'm not sure if I should go on the pill or not. There are pills here that I've heard of, but do you need a doctor's prescription to take them or are they equally safe to take unprescribed?

I mean, I'm asking cuz there aren't many people here who'd be willing to discuss that sort of thing with you, you know. Sad

I'm currently living in Brazil and taking Yasmin birth control which is an American brand. In Brazil you can buy it over the counter (no prescription needed) and the only difference I've found is that they don't sell you the placebo pills.

From what I understand birth control is really just being introduced in India. I'm not sure what brands they have their or how to get them. But I would start by asking at a local drug store if they have any or where you can find some. Get in touch with a doctor... he'll be able to answer your questions about what is safe and effective.

I think they're available over the counter there....I'd go to the nearest pharmacist/drug store and talk to someone. Doing an online search I actually found quite a bit regarding birth control in India, so I don't think it should be too hard for you!

It doesn't seem that you need a prescription. Good luck!
