Hi all.
Does anyone believe in chiropractors? I went to one with symptoms of soreness in neck, lower back pain, left hand going numb and my legs are feeling heavy. I feel like I have no coordination.
So I had xrays, and an mri and found out I have 2 herniated disks.
Im taking treatments on the drx 9000 machine. Its not working. My neck feels a little better but the numbness and heavy legs are getting worse.

Has anyone ever had anything like this? thanks, Michelle

I do think that chiropractors can help for re-alignment of spinal bones...but that it must be supplemented with muscular strength. Physical practices like yoga asana can really help. I had neck pain and numbness in my hands until I started practicing yoga regularly. But...you might want to see an neurology specialist if your symptoms are chronic...

I have faith in a very select number of chiros. I don't have much faith in spinal decompression. If you are having numbness I reccommend seeing a surgeon for an evaluation, and possibly a trial of steroid injections followed by some really good PT and core strengthening.

I would be careful with chiropractors, especially if you have disc problems. I would visit a back surgeon to discuss your options. Depending on the location of your discs and the pain you are having, you might get started with some steroid injections or other injections for some temporary relief.

Then once you are able to exercise, physical therapy is a good option to build strength and stability in your back. Chiropractors mainly help if you need some type of adjustment or realignment, but I wouldn't want one doing that to my back since I also have disc problems.

The decompression is something I tried only once and it didn't seem to help with my pain because it is mostly nerve-involved. Your numbness is definitely a sympton of disc and nerve involvement but I'm not sure about your heavy legs.

Good luck.
