So Luke has a little bit of jaundice and I am trying not to be too paranoid but it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Did any of you have babies with jaundice and if so when did their eyes look better and their skin tone get whiter. Luke just seems to be the same all the time.

Also, how many poopies are babies supposed to have because he is pooping ALL the time. I have to change him almost once an hour. I can't believe that I have to buy more diapers already!

Yeah, they are little poop machines early on. Then some babies will go days and days without a BM, then BOOM they explode again. Input=output.

My ped recommended laying Jaylon in a sunny window with nothing but a diaper on for a bit of time every day.

I know it isn't easy not to worry, but try not to.

Ya, definately try putting him in the sun if you haven't been. We'd always set brayden in the sun or if I was sitting around holding him we would sit by a window. It really helped that usually what doctors recommend.

Oh boy...Madisyn has jaundice really bad when she was born. I was stuck in the hospital with her for almost week until the doctors said she will be able to go home. They had her in a bili bed until her last night in the hospital they put her in an incubator thing with triple lights to make her bilirubin level go down. They triple lights really worked well. But they sent a bili blanket home with me to use until her bili rubin levels were stable again. It took about a week later for the yellow went away. I was pretty paranoid in the hospital about Madisyn having jaundice. She had really bad b/c Madisyn and I have different blood types.

I have been putting him in the window as much as possible but the problem is that we live in the midwest and we have been being pounded by storms. So until today it has barely been sunny. I took him out for a little bit today and the past few days he has taken his nap in front of the one window in our house that has sunshine come in. I really hope that it works! We are going to another dr appointment tomorrow so I am praying that it works.

He has been pooping and peeing like crazy so here's hoping it's better.

Luckily Luke is pooping alot cuz that would expell some of the bilirubin in his body. Thats what the nurses and doctors told me when my daughter had jaundice. So its a good thing that Luke is doing a lot of pooping.

Thanks, you guys have been a great help.

I feel like a bad mom because the dr said to call if he gets more yellow or more sleepy and I really can't tell! I mean he sleeps a lot but I thought that all newborns do. It's been stressing me out a little bit. Oh well, I go to the dr's tomorrow so I should know more then.If they have to take more blood though I am going to cry.

Berniebaby is exatly right. The more they poop, the more the bili levels go down.

Oni had *really* bad Jaundice. Her levels went up to 19.5 before it started going down. I actually broke down in the Dr's office because the levels kept rising.

SHe had blood tests every day for 2 weeks after she was born.

Don't panic, it'll get better. THen it'll be a blur!!

I remember Oni's eyes were SOOO yellow! She was dark skinned so her skin wasn't too noticibly yellow!

Keep us updated! Wink All will be fine though!

I took Luke to the doctors today and he is doing much better. They said that the jaundice is mostly gone and that I didn't hav eto bring him back until next wednesday.

I was very happy because he had gained 3.5 oz since Monday! I guess that he is getting enough to eat.
