so i have a varicocele and i went to a urologist and he said i should have surgery. but i dont feel any pain or discomfort at all, is surgery really needed? he also said i wouldnt be able to do any physical activity other than walking for about 6 weeks, is that a normal amount of time to be out with this type of surgery?
he said instead cutting open by the testicle he would go in by the stomach and get to the veins from there, is there any advantage in doing it one way or another?

You have no other symptoms??

I would get a second opinion. According to my unofficial online research, surgery is often not needed if there aren't any symptoms such as pain, testicular atrophy, or infertility. If any of these symptoms exist, you need to get it treated, but if not.... you should be fine.

So yeah, get a second opinion.
