Razz hi all, i'm new to this forum so perhaps this has been asked before Razz

my story: i'm calculating about 17 days past ovulation, period late, classic early preg symptoms (cramps and stable high morning temperatures)
HOWEVER all my HPTs are negative.

bloodwork (quantitative measure of hcg) done at 13 dpo was negative for pregnancy as well.

i was pregnant many years ago, and only realized this after 2 periods missed, many HPTs negative, a negative urine at doctor, and a blood test which FINALLY revealed hCG/pregnancy after an 8-week worry.

my question: have any of you had successful pregnancies when the hCG just doesn't appear rapidly in your system? were you just producing it too slowly? perhaps your body WAS producing it, but it was not reflected in your urine early enough? and what do docs think about this?

THANKS everyone! i am so curious about this...as well as scared for viability of our early pregnancies...maybe we can compare symptoms, and find a common cause for our tricky hormones...!

Normally yes, a negative blood test means you're not pregnant. However in your case, I would wait until 8 weeks and get another blood test done just to be sure.

Until then, if you're ttc, keep doing the baby tango!

No need to get snippy. You came to a public forum; you're going to get good responses as well as bad ones.
Honestly, I don't think you're pregnant either. But there are always exceptions to the rule so I rarely say "never."

Sorry about the above. Perhaps I should have been more specific; I was looking for people in a similar situation as mine, who could relate their experience. I already know that a 14 dpo blood test is likely correct… but I am curious to know of the exceptions. i always try to be very precise and not give mis-information.

lol I should hope I’m NOT pregnant—pity the poor baby that has to deal with my snarky temper

That is what I was thinking as well.
After all the results eh, then it suddenly became positive.

When you had your HCG Blood Test taken, how high was it already?
Since you were already on your 8th week, the HCG count would have been high right?

Let us know ! Thanks a bunch. Razz

Sad i'm not sure. it was such a long time ago that i had no idea what hCG was, so i didn't ask. the nurse had just written "positive" on the paper.

what i do know is that for my 1st ultrasound back then, the nurse mentioning that i was further along than they thought. perhaps this means that the level didn't match with the fetal age they saw.

sooo confusing

Girlfreind, just pm admin and ask them to correct the spelling - I've had my username changed in the past and it wasn't a problem. Wink You might find people take you a bit more seriously if you do - people can judge on things like spelling.
