Baby's Last Name - Am I Being Selfish
Posted: 08-21-07 09:59am

Some time ago I posted an email pertaining to paternity and that I am now single. The guy who I was seeing during the separation from my now ex bf wants to be in my life but I prefer not to be with him. Just never envision us being together anyway. My ex who i was with for 5 going on 6 yrs changed all of a sudden and not sure of what he wanted kwpt his distance from me for about 2 months. He woudl visit off and on and said it's not me it's him so I decided not to worry if he can't be a man and say what' son his mind I won't try and make his mind up for him. So I moved on and was talking to another guy but only had sex with him 2x once in early march and then march 29. Anyway, the day I broke up with my ex we had unprotected sex April 3 and I am now 21 weeks pregnant. Prior sexual encounters since my period of March 24-28 (Guy friend March 29 condom but it burst was ruptured) (EX April 1 and 3 no condom). The doctor said I conceived about April 5-8. We have had drama and more drama and he has been saying the child is not his. He has told me what if it's not his child and I listened but really my focus is on my health, my baby and my MBA-Finance in which I'm 1/2 way there. The thing is the time is approaching when I would have to decide whose last name to give my baby. My ex has said he knows the baby will only have mine. Should I even consider adding his name onto my child when he is not around. He showed up a few times earlier in my pregnancy but is keeping his distance but recently has been showing distant signs via email that he might want to be just a bit close. I plan to give my baby my last name. Am I being selfish?

If you are saying you do not know who the father is and you are single.. I would give it my last name.. that is not selfish that is really practical.

Thx meblonde01 for the reply. I do plan to give it my name. I am more than certain that it's my ex's but not with all the drama we had I need to be practical.
