I work in the property/casualty (home and auto) insurance industry in Canada and our rates are very heavily regulated by governing bodies for each province.

This question is mainly directed at people who work in the Health Insurance industry in the US (or people who know the ins and outs).

How regulated is the industry in the US? Are rates regulated by a governing body?
