Hi there I am looking for any advise that I can get about Hodgkins disease and the symptoms that can be had. I have had a lump in the LHS of my neck for about three years. It is located in the posterior cervical region.

During this time I have lost weight without trying over 10kg, I have had night sweats but only every few months, I am constantly fatiged so tired, I feel nauseus in the afternoon and sometimes all night, I have recently developed lumps in my ankles and one on my spine, I have a rash on my left knee that will not go away, dry skin, I have occasional dizziness and have a muffled feeling to my hearing in my left ear recently. My joints are sore and I have a sort of aching in my bones.

I have tested positive for epstein barr antigens so I have had it at some stage. I have a constant feeling of pressure in my neck and sometimes get pain and bloating in my abdomen.

I have a family history of leukamia, mums brother and sister.
Other history in family includes diabetes and enlarged hearts.

Please help I feel really unwell and cant seem to get a Dr here to take me seriously.

The first thing you've notice is a swollen node in your neck and that's very common for Hodgkins disease. This is a malignant disease that affects lymphatic tissue, presented in many parts of the body, causing enlarged and painless nodes. Hodgkin's disease can start almost anywhere, but most often starts in lymph nodes in the upper part of the body(neck, chest, armpit) Enlarged lymph nodes can then cause pressure on important structures. It can spread through the lymphatic vessels to other lymph nodes(groin, abdomen.) This is the major way it spreads. If it gets into the blood vessels and spread, the liver, spleen, lungs and bone marrow will be affected too. Other symptoms are: fever, night sweats, itchy skin, weight loss, fatigue. Ask your doctor to refere you to a specialist (oncologyst or hemathologyst) Treatment depends on the extend of the disease and includes surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and combination of these. The majority of cases (85%) are cured.

Best wishes!
