Testing And All the Fun Stuff That Goes With Diabetes..... Posted: 09-02-07 16:19pm
I hear ya about it kind of sucking about
having to do all the stuff that comes with
diabetes. I can tell you from being an
insulin dependent diabetic that it is
worth it though! I also used to be pretty
angry about how diabetes disrupted my
daily life so I was not taking good care
of myself. I now have complications from
having a period of time when my blood
glucose (BG) was out of control. I agree
that it sucks about having to basically
change your life for diabetes, but it also
sucks when you get the complications from
not doing a good job keeping good
control.
Just trying to encourage you. I know it is
a pain, but keeping up with all your
diabetes stuff can help prevent
complications like I have.

Have I Got It Posted: 10-24-07 17:44pm
i have been on quite a lot of websites now
and or seen some of the symptoms of
diabetes and or it seemed that i do have
quite a few of them. I am now dibating
weather and or not to go to my local
doctor and or not because i really dont
like needles, for i think that they will
have to draw out blood brom me. Is there
any other way of doing this without
needles, for i am unber the age of 18.
Please get back to me asap please, thanks,

Diabetes does suck - I am a type 1
diabetic and I hate it. my sugars are out
of control and i go from 20 to over 600.
I have been in the ER so many times in the
last few months because I was out of it
because of ow bloodsugars. its horrible
it is ruining my life. I have changed
because of this. I now have a disease
called addison and that just adds to the
troube. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
They call me a brittle diabetic so its not
all my fault this disease is horrible on
me. All this and it has only been a
little over a year since I was diagnosed.
some days aren't as horrible though and by
the way you can get really really tiny
needles so you can barely feel then the
tick is that you have to change the needle
as soon as it starts getting dull at all.
It will be manageable someday. Good luck
to everyone out there.

Insulin Pump Posted: 11-13-07 11:46am
Have you guys tried an insulin pump? My
son is 8 and has had diabetes since he was
21 months. He's been on a pump since he
turned 3 and it's amazing how much easier
life is. The freedom is so worth it.

Yes it sucks having to stop your life and
test. However what's the alternative?
Being out of control because you ate
whatever you wanted and now are so out of
control you are doing damage to your
nerves, liver and eyes; and maybe lose
your legs? Forget it. Testing doesn't
really hurt. It's just a pain to stop and
do it. As for your fear of needles for
your diagnosis: Get over it! The needle
hurts for about one second and it's not
like having your head bashed in. It's
just one little needle prick and then it's
over, it won't hurt when they take your
blood and before you know it the whole
thing is over. If you are a type 1
diabetic and have to give yourself shots;
the needles are so thin you don't even
feel it. I know this because when I was
first diagnosed I was in the hospital and
instead of the oral hypoglycemic agents I
take now they just did shots. Honestly I
didn't feel a thing and I have a LOW
threshold for pain. So get your test and
you'll be ok.
