Q: Taking 2 Bc Pill Back to Back

I have been on Demulen for the past 7 years and I have never experienced any side effects while on the pill. I normall take the pill for 21 days and then get my period the week after.

This summer I decided that I wanted to miss my period so I could enjoy my summer activities (i.e. swimming), so I took 2 bc pill packs in a row. I finished a pack on August 5th and was supposed to get my period 2 days later, but instead I started a new bc pill pack on August 6th.

So now I'm entering my 3rd week on my second pack and I am experiencing weird symptoms. About 2 days ago my breasts started to get swollen and tender, I am feeling a little nauseous and light headed. Could that be the effects of too many hormones from taking bc pills 2 months straight without a break? I want to stop taking my pills this week so I can get my period because my breasts hurt a lot. Is that a good idea.

Also, could the effectiveness of the pill be decreased by changing my schedule around? I always take my pill at the same time every day (between 10-11am).

The side effects aren't cause by too many hormones, but by the duration you've taken them in. Since you've taken the pills for more than 21 days, you will be safe to take off one week for a period, and you'll still be protected from pregnancy Smile

Just make sure you start a brand new pack once the week is over.
