I am currently not on birth control and have planned a vegas weekend with my boyfriend, but i'm afraid i might get my period those days since i recently had a cycle change. Is there anything I can do? I have access to yasmin bc pills, but am not sure if i can take them without actually taking my period..help!

You can start birth control pills during any part of your cycle. They have you start near a period to reduce the risk of spotting I believe, but there's nothing that says you can't start them any time you like. Start them so that you will be on active pills the whole time you're in Vegas, and it just might work lol.

Yeah, it would probably delay the period, but because that isn't 'taking them correctly', don't trust it alone for protection. I don't believe it isn't healthy though.

Have fun at Vegas!

Actually, she'll be safe after just one week.

Yes, 99%. Actually the pill even with "perfect" use is anywhere from 97-99%. Typical use (aka "oops, it's 9 hours late, oops I missed one" etc) is still 92-96%.

If she takes the pills every day at the exact same time, then after one week, she will be 92-99% protected, just like everyone else who takes the pill.
