the Good Thing About Oral Contraceptives Is?? Posted: 08-19-07 01:07am
Has anyone experienced any other benefits
from birth control pills besides it's
contraceptive use? I mean, can anyone say
anything positive about a birth control
pill that they have used? And if so, can
you give the name of it? I mean, I know
all the flaws in oral contraceptives, I'm
trying to find out if anyone has had
positive experiences or reactions to a
certain birth control pill. It seems
nearly impossible to find a good remark on
these kinds of things.

um honestly I was on Ortho I think Lo for
like 6 months, not much of a change for
me, my breasts were a little bigger the
first few weeks but thats it. Me
personally, Im not the best for
remembering to take a pill everyday and
then again I was worried about gettin
pregnant after missing it. Im on the Nuva
Ring now and I love it. No forgetting,
its simple and really the guy barely feels
it if at all. I highly suggest it!

There are NUMEROUS types of BC pills, and
you gotta find the one that works for your
body.
Trial and error is not fun, but it is the
only way sometimes.

Oh yeah!! My acne went away, my periods
lightened, AND I had the best benefit of
all (aside from no babies): my cramps went
from severely debilitating to mildly
annoying!!
I have never had bad reactions to birth
control.

it depends from person to person but there
are various benefits from taking birth
control pills. This includes
1. Lighter and more predictable periods.
2. Less acne
3. Birth control (no babies)
4. Some health benefits like lesser chance
of suffering from heavy period related
anemia
5. bigger and fuller breasts

On the ring I had less bleeding during my
period, no cramps, regulated period, no
pms symptoms, etc.
On the mirena IUD my period stopped
altogether. Yay! No monthly visit.
On the pill now- I have less bleeding
during my period, no cramps, regulated
period, clearer skin, no pms symptoms. I
used to get awful periods before birth
control and now it's like nothing. I
barely notice it.
On condoms, well, less messy and never had
problems with pain from not enough
lubrication. Plus sex always lasted longer
lol. But I can't say anything good about
spermicide lol. I hate the stuff.

Well, the biggest benefit for me (aside
from the obvious - no babies!) is that my
cycle runs like clockwork now. I can
predict the arrival of my period to the
DAY every month.
My period is also much lighter and less
painful than it was before. I used to not
be able to live without Advil...now, I
usually don't even need it at all. That
is awesome. I went from hating my period
to not minding it one bit. That's pretty
good.
It also matters which pill you're on,
because everyone's body reacts differently
to different pills. I was initially on
Orthotricyclen Lo, but it gave me horrible
nausea for about 7 months straight. Then
my doctor switched me to Lutera, and I've
been fine. It sucks, but it's very much a
trial and error type of thing to find the
right pill for you...

Birth control lowers your risk of
developing ovarian and endometrial cancer
up to 50%.
