Just thought I would add that according to
my pregnancy books and my nursing books
that starting at twenty weeks it is no
longer a miscarriage. If the baby is born,
it is either preterm labor or stillbirth.
I don't know what the age of viability is
but since that one 21 weeker was saved
many hospitals are trying to save babies
at that gestational age. The hospital in
my area is doing that now.
I forgot to add a second ago that I'm sure
everything's fine Suzy. My doc told me
that round ligament pains usually start
around 20 weeks with your first pregnancy
so that's probably what you're feeling. It
doesn't hurt to get checked out if you're
worried though.

ilovemyfishes ... At 23weeks
it wouldnt be a miscarriage, it would be
preterm labor, in which case the baby is
now Viable...meaning it would be extremely
premature.
However...I think it sounds like normal
aches and pains. I am only 15weeks and a
few days and I have horrible backpain
everyday. If you are worried though, ifyou
can, go to your dr earlier. Cant
hurt!
not true and i can prove
it by facts. preterm lagor is not that
early its after 25
weeks
preterm labor can happen at 23 weeks as my
OB said
but i dont think thats what this is
i get my cervix checked and everything on
the 29th so hopefully its just back pain
and thats it
well my doctor wants to check my cervix
for preterm labor
theres these things shes worried about
1. my weight gain. i only have 3 1/2
months til the baby is born and ive only
gained 6lbs.
2.the pain im getting that shoots down the
middle of my back
3.that infection i has in the very
begining...shes worried it "could be back"
and according to what the doctor told me
when they found out i had the infection
its a certain type of bacteria that
"pregnant women shouldnt have" in their
urine
i have no idea.
Just wondering, why is your doctor
checking your cervix so soon? I thought
they didn't start doing that till your
close to your due date. Just curious.
