Okay, I don't know if you guys know but as a teenager I was diagnosed with OCD. I sort of "grew out of it" but it's usually paired with depression and anxiety. Lately I've been having some symptoms of depression, pretty mild and the occasional anxiety attack. Fairly mild. But every time I go to see my pcp we talk about how I'm doing from a mental health view. Every time I go she writes me a prescription that she knows that I won't fill. But last time she wrote me a script for zoloft and ativan. I've been on zoloft before and I had a bad reaction so she lowered the dosage. I also had an extremely bad reaction to xanax so that's why she gave me the ativan. I actually filled them (which sort of scares me) but I don't plan on taking either one until I find out whether or not I'm preggers. But just some quick questions... has anyone ever been on ativan before? If so did you experience any side effects? What were they?

Just a note, I'm not supposed to take the ativan every day because it's in the same family as the xanax, I'm only supposed to take it when I'm feeling panicky.

Yay!!!

I'm getting a little stressed lately which is why I think I filled it. It's not normal for me to fill them, I have a whole drawer full of unfilled scripts. It's usually something I prefer to battle through on my own without pills. I think I'm just feeling really overwhelmed because this year has been horrible. And even the good parts have been stressful like buying a house, buying a car, etc... That's actually why I've been on a lot more, this place (and ebay) provide serious distraction.

I've got my driving test scheduled tomorrow, wish me luck! I'm not a bad driver but I've failed the test every single time because I get so nervous that I can't take the test. No other test in my life has had the power to make me nervous but the driving test never fails to. Must be something about sitting in a car with a state trooper! Laughing

Wow! They send state troopers with you to take your tests? OMG, I don't think I would have ever passed if that were the case for me. I'm so nervous around strangers it's not even funny. I hate it. I actually blush if I have to talk to a stranger. That can't be normal. I don't even live a sheltered life!

I'm glad you can be distracted like that. If you have msn or yahoo and ever wanna talk let me know! I've got both.

Cool, my name is the same on everything. And yeah, they're state troopers that conduct the road tests. They wear plain clothes but they still act very state-trooper-ish. All ramrod straight, barking commands and then sitting in silence with the very disapproving face on. The last one tried to command me to relax. Needless to say I got even more nervous. I hope a miracle occurs and I wind up with a regular D.O.T employee tomorrow. Somehow I think I'll be able to handle that better. Maybe I'll try to pretend like it's someone else sitting in the car with me. Ugh, I'm falling asleep. I'm never up this late. I'm headed off to bed. I'll let you know if I pass or...gulp...fail...

Eek! All my babbling, and I forgot to wish you luck....so Good Luck!

I've never tried it, but imagine the person in their underwear (but that may not be good either, especially if they look anything like our DOT employees! if that's the case, don't eat before you go!)

Good night!

Sorry, I can't answer your original question but that made me laugh out loud and I needed that this morning Laughing

I sympathise about the OCD and panickyness though - I used to have mild OCD as a child but I grew out of it fortunately. I get panic attacks though and hate meeting new people or being in social situations unless it is with people I really trust.

Good luck kay!!

Yesterday I took my cousins wife to take her drivers test, she's 23 and has never had a license before. So we went, she passes the written part, now on to the driving part.. She flunked.

So we went to the license beurou or however you spell it, so that she can get her permit at least, and when we're walking out the door, she looks down and sees "drivers license" they actually gave her a drivers license!!! she said that they kept saying "drivers license" and she had to pay 20 dollars, but she didn't think they'd actually mess up and give her one Laughing

I work with some people that take Ativan, but they take it at night PRN (as needed) for sleep. I would be really careful taking it any other time.

I do a lot of research of meds for our books and I visit this site a lot. It gives a lot of excellent info. http://www.drugs.com/cdi/ativan.html

Congratulations on getting your license. I couldn't imagine taking my test with a trooper. We have grumpy motor vehicle workers that do ours. We have one lady and one man that work there that will fail anyone the first time regardless if they are the perfect driver.

My best friend has been off and on ativan for yrs. It's REALLY calms her down when she has one of her episodes. But she abuses it and will take 6 at a time to the point where she's slurring and stuff.

It's ok for once in a while if you are NOT alone with Chu, but other than that you need to be carefull not to abuse it.

Good luck kay!!

Okay, I wasted my money filling it then. I just checked that site plus a different one that a friend recommended and it sounds too much like xanax. I won't be taking that.
