I'm only 20 yrs old, seem to have been in perfect health UNTIL recently i had 3 seizures in a week. I black out and don't remember any of it. Afterwards i have a headache and high levels of anxiety. My husband tells me I first Stutter, tighten up my arms to my chest, turn my head to the right sometimes left. Then begin to shake. My breathing becomes eratic, i salivate heavily, my pupils are very large. At some point i fall or one time he held me and laid me down. He says when i come to i flail my arms about, my speech is jumbled, my legs are very weak. He says i'm disoriented for about 20 minutes. After the 20 mins i can remember and have a continuing headache, once for 12hours or more. After my laST SO-CALLED SEIZURE A HAD A MAJOR PANIC-ATTACK. The dr. at the e.r said the episodes were caused by stress. Is THIS A POSSIBILITY????. Can I please get some answers.. Fill free to e-mail me if you have some insight THANK YOU.

I am so sorry this happened. Have you had any tests like an EEG after your seizures? It sounds like a seizure. Having tests are very important to see what is going on.

Anxiety afterward is not uncommon. Your brain is misfiring neurons and the mixed up messages can cause confusion and make you feel anxious and afraid. Of course feeling out of control and not knowing what is going on adds to all of that....

Did the doctor refer you to a neurologist? Since you have now had 3 of these, that is the wisest course of action.

I hope you can get answers very soon.

It sounds exactly like a grand mal, or tonic clonic seizure. Your doctor should have reffered you to a nuerologist, who then should have ordered an EEG or MRI. It could be epilepsy, or it couls be a number of other things causing these seizures (aka food allergy, tumor, heart problem, etc. etc.) not trying to scare you but those tests are extremely important.

Seizures
it was the same for me, 21 no seizures that i knew of, then came home, and had apparently grand mal after grand mal. i lost 3 hrs in that day, at the hospital they said it was an acute stress reaction. one off. sent me home after 8 hrs, of taking blood samples to see if i was on drugs or something. but i never did drugs. It was about a month after that when i had another one. my gp said it might be epilepsy and sent me to a neurologist, he was no use. had a eeg and then he read it out to me same day, said my brain was weird in waves and something about the 14th to 17 electrode. but i didnt understand. he said it wasnt epilepsy and that i needed to see a psychiatrist.

Seizure Vs Panic Attack
After Grand Mal, you might experience panic attack. The two are very similar for your first experience. Even after many years, I was still so worried about seizure, whci will cause panic attack.

My had first grand mal when I was 37 (midnight in bed). I can not remember how many hours I was awake within the next 7 days.

The good thing is that it can be controlled. Keep a good habit about sleep patten.
