Clueless About Braxton Hicks Posted: 08-17-07 11:54am
I have a question on braxton hicks. I have
been reading about this a bit. I don't
remember from my first child. But what i
read they are suppose to be not so
painful. Last night i went to bed, and i
started to get these period like cramps
down around my pelvis area, and up the
left side of my belly. They came about 5-7
mins apart, and were a bit painful, but i
could handle them. This lasted for about a
hour. I felt the baby move quite a bit
while having a few of them. Is this what
braxton hicks are? Or is this something i
should bring up with my doc? Thanks for
your help!

You could say something to your doctor at
your next appointment if you are
concerned. But since the contractions
stopped, chances are it wasn't anything to
be worried about.
How far along are you?
I think most braxton hicks are
uncomfortable as opposed to hurting, like
true labor. But I do think BH can hurt
too!

If they are hurting, try drinking more
fluids. You could be a little dehydrated.
If you are really concerned about it,
talk to your doctor about it at your next
appointment. I've been having BH
contractions for the past few weeks and
they get a little stronger each week. I
am 3 days away from my due though. I'm hoping
my little one decides to make her
appearance this weekend!!

I'll be 22 weeks on Sunday. I feel better
today, and on a scale from 1-10 last night
they were about a 2, or a 3. Not bad. But
just concerned cause i didn't know if the
baby was in danger cause she moved a lot
more during these. I drink water all day
long. I don't know how i could be
dehydrated. But it's possible. Thanks for
the comments

Yeah, I would really be drinking more
water. My nurse told me that the number
one reason for premature labor is
dehydration. You just need more when
you're pregnant.

Well i fee llike that's all i'm doing is
drinking water. I drink loads at work
cause that's all there is here besides
soda. And soda makes me sick since i've
been preggo. But i'll try more water. I
talked to my doctor, and she said the same
thing. Or my nurse rather. But thanks
again
