Q: Need Feedback From Rhinoplasty/chin Implant Patients

I am new to this forum and had a few questions. I am having rhinoplasty and a chin implant a week from today. I was wondering what I can expect. I went in for my preop appointment a week ago and was given two sheets one for rhinoplasty and the other for chin implant that explained what I need to do before and after the surgery. I never visited the doctor on the preop to review the surgery, I assume that will be done the day of surgery (worries me a little).

For people whom had this surgery
1) how bad is the pain afterwards and days following
2)i visit the gym daily and this will be the first time in months how long before I can go back to weightlifting
3) any thing else I should be concerned about

any information is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi! I just want to say congratulations on your decision- I have never regretted getting my nose done.
I can only comment on the rhinoplasty tho, sorry.
In answer to ur first question; for the first few days after the operation, I was on morphine and totally out of it, so I didnt feel much pain. Although I must admit when the drugs wore off it was pretty bad- prob about 6 outta 10 pain.

About the exercise, im not really sure- I dont think u can do any strenuous activity for about 6 wks I think- wel thats how long I had to wait to play soccer again. I no that for the two wks I didnt realy get outta bed that much!

I had my op in the school holidays, which was about 2 an a half wks, and my eyes were bruised for practically the whole time. I felt pretty low and cried alot, but it was all worth it when I got the bandages off.

Its different for most ppl, and I hav to admit, im a big wuss!! Also, I had a "open" operation where there is actually a scar- most ppl dont hav that type of operation.
Anyway I hope I helped- im so excited 4 u!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Stace
I had my surgery yesterday (tuesday). It was not a painful as I thought it would be. My face is all swollen up and the only thing that hurts is my chin implant. I went to the doctors this morning (24 hours after surgery) he said everything looks good and to just relax for the next week or so. I really hated talking the oxycodone pills since they made me nauseous and dizzy. I stop taking them and switched to extra strength tylenol. So far I am rather pleased and have no regrets. Even though I look like mike tyson kicked my ass I am sure the bruises will subside soon.

Stace for your help, I am 24 year old male and the pain so far is not bad for me at all. I will be walking around and watching some tv and movies all day

Yeah I am not on any pain killers since the day of surgery. Only extra strength tynenol that I take at night. I stopped taking the oxycodne the day of surgery since I hated the side effects. Swealing and brusing is bad, hopefully it goes away soon. The cast over the nose is kinda itcy. The nose does not hurt but the chin implant does when I stretch my neck. As for the surgery he correted the bridge and tip. Well I am finally able to eat more normal food than pudding and soup. (yeahhh!)

how long was it before your brusies under the eyes and over the eys went away?

My face looks like a mike tyson kicked my ass Rolling Eyes
