Carseat Fun!

Not really but yeah. Pretty much anytime i leave the house its a fighting battle to get joseph to sit in his carseat, he always screames and kicks and arches his back so you cant strap him in. I dunno what to do anymore, i cant figure out a way to get him seated, usually he sits when we first leave the house because he is excited to go somewhere but not anymore. I sit there for 20 minutes until im able to get him seated, prob sat longer at the commisary waiting for him to sit down, the only place he sat still at was next to his carseat and he tried putting the seatbelt on. Eventually he got in his seat and buckled in screaming and all. Maybe its a phase? I hope. i dread going anywhere now because its a fight with him to get him to sit down so i can leave. Ima go crazy here lol

My mum had the exact same problem with my half brother when he was a bit younger

What we did is we told him the car wouldn't go if his seatbelt wasn't done up.

Whenever he undid it we'd pull over and stop the car.

luckily he didn't use this against us and take the seatbelt off when he didn't go anywhere, he always wanted the car to go .

I think it may of also helped that we named the car and because young kids think all toys and objects have feelings he didn't want to dissapoint the car and make it go to sleep

worth a try, but it may backfire if he doesn't want to go anywhere anyway

ive tried distracting him with toys and stuff, also telling him we cant go anywhere until he sits down in his seat. But still nothing he continues to scream and flip out. He is only 2 yrs old. i will just sit there lookin at him until he sits down wich never happens i end up having to almost pin him to the seat to strap him in.

Hahahaha! I know how you feel. I just helped my sister wrestle my 2yo nephew into his carseat a few days ago. I was really surprised that a 2yo could be that strong. I worked up a serious sweat. I wish I had some advice for you. She told him she'd leave him at home with the sitter if he didn't sit in the carseat. That worked once, now she's back to wrestling him again.

thats how it seems to work, something works once then never again, and yeah 2 year olds are very strong lol. i hate when they arch there back and stuff, jordynne did the same thing when i was putting her back in her infant seat cuz i sat her int he seat in the cart in the grocery store, she was arching her back and whining , taking after her brother now lol. He has toys in the truck and stuff too i tried giving them to him to occupy him to sit him down. He was still screaming after i buckled him in but got quiet when he had the dental floss. he knows things he just chooses not to listen, cuz i get home and tell him to take his pants off to cahnge him and he took his pants off . He knows what sit down means to hed just rather sit in a big boy seat and not in the carseat, he woulda been perfectly fine sitting in the normal seat with a seatbelt, but he is way to little for that. I end up just sitting there and let him calm down or do whatever. Then attempt it again. Half the time i take him out of his carseat or undo it so he can get out and he jumpes up front and i gotta climb back in there and drag him out , he figures out ways to get his feet to stick to something so its alot harder to pull him out, hes sneaky

josephs usually good with that, unless hes in there a long time then he starts throwing tantrums and trying to get out, i cannot bring him in public and let him walk though, he wil be all over the place and ill spend an hr chasing him and hardly be able to get what i went in the store to get , grocery shopping is always tons of fun hahaive been using those big carts with the 2 seats attached to it, since it has like a 3pt harness orwhatever it has the shoulder straps too because he will climb out of the seat on the basket even with a seat belt on. htey have carts at the PX with the little car part in the front he likes to sit in it but halfway through the store hes climbing out of it or on top of it!
JOY to the terrible 2's !
