Advice On Tarsal Coalition Diagnosis Posted: 08-17-07 03:25am
I was in an accident in Feb. 2002 which
caused a fracture in my ankle, I was 18
years old. I was left in agonizing pain
until this day and repeatedly sought
medical help but was only ever given
Xrays, NSAIDS and physio as all medical
staff kept telling me that there was
nothing wrong. With my persistence they
finally sent me for an MRI in June 2007
which has now revealed that I have a
tarsal coalition. Should this have been
discovered long ago? I was presenting
with pain in the outer side of the ankle
joints, very limited flexibility, reduced
strength in joint (19% strength) and
throbbing up through the leg to the knee
region.

Tarsal coalitions are fairly common, and
your story is pretty typical, they are
often only discovered after a traumatic
event, or after repeated sprains. If you
fractured your ankle why didn't they put
it in a cast, was it only a very small
fracture. what type of coalition is it
there are different kinds talo calcaneal,
talo navicular.
what are they planning to do give you
physio are they contemplating a fusion or
are they going to separate the two bones
