Ok, I'm 17(Well in September I will be), and I've NEVER had a GF, but I like that.

To me, a teenage relationship brings problems: Lower grades, they control your life, they nag, and complain, and always full of drama.

So I love never having a GF, but here's the problem. Everyone at my school thinks I'm weird, cause almost EVERYONE I know has had at least 2 before. So, they think I'm weird.

I don't think so, what dod I do?

I've had a online girlfriend with a girl that I used to go to school with me that I had contact with and regained contact with thanks to Facebook.
I've also had a girl fall for at school just cause I was a bit nice to her and I think at one point she may have thought she was my girlfriend.
I never had a girlfriend. I'm 17 right now almost 18 but I've never had a physical girlfriend. The online girl I guess you can call her a girlfriend but it wasn't anything real like going out and kissing and !**@!. The other girl she was messed up and got these strange thoughts.

I'll Be 17 the June of 2008
I don't think I'll have a gf by my 17 yr old birthday in June 2008. Crying or Very sad I kind of feel unmanly for I-don't-know-why. I've never had sex before, never been kissed, been hugged 4 times. Crying or Very sad From the world almanac, I know that 51.9% of 11th graders have had sex, so I feel left out. I am a nerd (4.0 cumalitive GPA, going for IB diploma), but I'm also a sports standout (lettered every year for high school swim team, trained in mixed martial arts with a professional cagefighter that once beat Olympic gold medallist wrestler and former UFC champ Pat Miletich, can run a 5:49 mile, bench press at 180 lbs). I dunno, maybe the girls here (and maybe the guys) on this forum can give me advice!

haha I agree with girlfriend here. Don't worry too much about the opposite sex when you're young, they will just cloud your mind and make you think stupid.

I didn't get my first girlfriend until I was 19 and I didn't feel weird or bad about it. And my patience paid off because I found a winner Smile

Let me just say that I take offense to those generalizations!
I was the cool, laid-back chick in high school. I hated drama, never complained and I certainly didn't nag!

Grrrrrrrrr! That is not nice! Evil or Very Mad

Not all girls that are 17 are superficial drama queens... just the popular ones Laughing

No you are not weird. YES teenage relationships are not made for lasting and they can be full of drama. Boys as well as girls nag, complain and try to control each other's lives. I did not date in my teens or even have a long tern boyfriend until I was 20 and I made the huge mistake of staying with that same person for three years and wasting a lot of time trying to have a relationship. I'm married now to a great guy and I can honestly say that there is nothing wrong with just dating, no relationships formed, just hanging out. If something evolves into a relationship, great, if not, oh well, Who really needs it to be more? If you are happy not having a girlfriend, great. And just because everyone else has had a girlfriend who cares? That is just more high school drama. Are your friends "keeping score"? And I definitely don't buy into the idea that having relationships in school prepares you for adult relationships, because the truth is, even in my mid-30's some people NEVER grow up and there is still unnecessary drama, nagging, and complaining.
Good Luck and keep being yourself.

Well see, there's a difference here.
you DONT WANT a gf.
thats fine.
it feels much worse when you actually want one but they keep turning you down.
I didn't have my first bf till I was 16.
Same with first kiss/make out/sex.
He's my first everything, basically.
And I did feel like crap when every other girl had a bf except for me because I actually wanted one. But it seemed the guys weren't noticing me. I went as far as actually asking a guy to be my bf.
yeah....no good. haha
But now that I have a bf I feel like it was worth the wait.
It's like all that "delayed gratification" stuff they teach you in health class =]
so dont sweat it.
if you dont want one you dont need to have one just cuz everyone else has one. dont let anyone else tell you otherwise =]

Trust me your not wierd. I had my first boyfriend when I was in 4th grade, I didn't know what it was. Im 13 & still have not had my first kiss & you know what I could care less if Im 17 & not had my first kiss because it doesn't matter. And I have to say most girls like to gossip ohh well its common but that doesn't mean that we nag or are full of drama. There is a girl waiting for you so don't rush. You'll have your time (:

Don't stress it man, you are WISE and unique to not be like the rest of these guys who call you weird. You know what is good for you as a 17 year old, that grades come first, which means career comes first, which means money to do whatever the hell you want later on, including finding that important girl and being able to take care of her. The question you should really be asking yourself is, now do you want to be different and wise and unique? That is what I'm asking myself lately, should I keep on holding back when I don't see whats the point anymore? I've yet to reach an answer myself, but don't put yourself down because of your differences. Let those other guys have the drama and whatnot, you will be the one calculating your next move and deciding who definitely won't give you the bull. =)

What do you do... nothing? They won't change how they think, if you don't want to change the way you think, shrug it off and tell yourself what right would they have to judge you.

Lol
True, I like being unique and I rarely hold it back (nowadays at least). Thanks for the advice! I'm like a lone warrior wondering through the universe (at least that's how I see myself) and making the world my home, I've always been like this and that's probably how I'll die. BUt sometimes I get lonely and I wish that special girl was there and besides its only normal to want that special girl (natural emotional responses control our lives quite a lot, in my opinion). Lol, thanks for all the advice!

Just saying, but having a girlfriend doesnt mean you have to spend every second of the day with her, you're grades don't have to suffer, and don't even worry about what is happening or not happening in every other high school relationship, if you dont want a girlfriend, don't feel pressured into it.
I am a girl, and I don't really get along with girls as much as guys. Basically all my best friends are guys, I have pretty much been a tomboy all my life. I aint complaining, I quite like my life, I aint changing for anyones benefit, unlike (sadly) lots of girls now-a-days who dress up like $2 hookers, pile on the makeup, and are knocked up by 13. When the time is ready, find a girl who has respect for herself and others, somebody who loves you the way you are, and somebody who you love for who they are.
Best of luck mate.
P.S. Not all girls are bad, there are some genuinely nice girls out there Smile
