Q: Can't Get Hard & I Am 40

This is just lovely. I can ejaculate but I am not getting very hard. I was with a woman recently and was unable to have an orgasm or get hard at all. I have been jerking off maybe 6-8 times a week and have been for years.
I have discontinued the masterbation for a few days now but I still am not getting hard. I am very concerned because I am going to be very embarrassed when I see a lady & I am supposed to see one very soon. One that I really like a lot.

I tried viagra one time and I had no problem with the orgasm (Solo) but I was not very hard when it happened.

What do you think?
Thanks

I think you are thinking about it too much. I had a friend who did that. He went to the doctor and the doctor said there was nothing wrong with him. He got some viagra until his confidence was back up enough that he didn't need it any longer.

Maybe all you need is to let go of whatever it is that stands between you and your erection? Or see a doctor.

Good luck!

Ingi, Thank you responding. I wish this were in my mind but I think not. I am wondering what kind of things COULD this be. I feel confident and just fine otherwise but my dick simply is not getting hard like it used to. I know it is going to be a problem when I see my woman in a few weeks. Anybody got any ideas? I am going to see a doctor next week. What kind of tests will they conduct for this?

You are overthinking it. A lot of erection problems are connected to a man's emotional state.

Also though? Age does play a factor. Men can't do the same things at 40 sexually that they could at 20.

Thanks again. I will concede that it is POSSIBLE it is in my mind. I don't believe it is though. Nothing has happened to change my sexual attitude in recent months. I am curious as to what other possiblities there are. I am certain that this sort of thing CAN be a physical problem and that is what I was most interested in hearing about.

I know I am not 20 anymore but. I would be happy with what I was able to do 3 months ago!

Now just for arguments sake lets say it is mental. Now how can I correct that?

Thanks

I've lost some rigidness as well, I am 42. I started taking Saw Palmetto (spelling?) 3 or 4 months ago. Its really to help your prostate but one of the effects is increased blood flow. I've noticed a slight improvement in my erections.

Did you ever see a doctor about the lack of rigidity. I am certainly hoping that I regain my former form. I still have a mild erection but nothing like what it was. I wonder what a doctor can do, if anything to help me regain my hardness?

No I didn't see the doctor about it. It took me 2 years to get to him for my first prostate exam. This would be even more embarressing. My problem isnt that bad though, I get an erection and can have sex without a problem, not even sure if the wife notices a difference and it is more noticeable when I am masturbating. Guess its just not as exciting as having sex is.

I had this problem (embarrassingly) when I was 22. Reason was I was nervous having just got with a new girlfriend. I find if I lose an erection slightly (maybe due to alcohol) it plays on your mind and you get worried and it becomes a vicious circle. You just need to break out of that circle. I found increasing foreplay helped.

If you're confident enough and have been with the woman long enough to have a significant sense of trust, you might have the early warning signs of Erectile Dysfunction. Get a doctor to check you out. You never know... it might just be something temporary and unrelated to ED as well.

Well Well
You are just another adult male. you are not a child anymore,so my advise to you is. Go and get a complete physical with your doctor. Including levels of male hormone, PSA for the prostate, a rectal exam (like it or not) to check your prostate you should have it now every year. To check your heart and your thyroid, also to check if you are a diabetic or not. Your blood pressure is important to have under control and make sure you slow down with your masturbation. Very frequent masturbation may be ok, for a young guy but at you age things are different. I hope I didn't forget anything. Godspeed to you. Also try monogamy some of the guys here told you, you maybe thinking too much about it and I should add you maybe scare to fail. At your age is okey not to score everytime. And a wife or steady girlfriend well she may understand that. You are not a 20 years old fellow anymore. sad for true...
