Hello everyone, I am new, so forgive if I err in my post in anyway.

I am a 23 year old male who was diagnosed with hypertension about 4 years ago. Also, I was diagnosed with ADHD about 5 or 6 years ago. I am still in school, graduate school, and therefore must be on my ADHD meds. I realize some would think the hypertension could be resulting from the ADHD meds, but that is not the case.

Currently I take 200mg of Toprol a day as well as 30mg of Adderall XR a day.

When I take both of these meds, I have extremely cold fingers and toes/feet all day. It's pretty miserable. I am fairly convinced it is the Toprol. Because it still happens when I take the Toprol, but no the Adderall. It is just worse when I take them both. I cannot change my ADHD meds, because I have tried about all of them and Adderall is all that works. Therefore, I must switch my hypertension meds. I have tried Diovan, and it didn't work very well. It helped a little, but it did not correct the high BP very well.

Has anyone heard of Toprol causing this? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much.

i tak 50mg of adderall a day, 20,20,and 10mg throughout the day and not only can adderall cause extremely cold extremeties while taking it but even after it has left the system you may end up feeling even colder. it really does a number on a persons circulation and personally i would say you get off of the time release and not take it on a daily basis to give your body time to recover (adderall is out of ones system in 3 days or less) also make sure your getting enough but not too much potassium since adderall is a diuretic(makes you pee alot) and not only do you excrete large ammounts of potassium in your unrine but also the loss of fluid from this medication can have a tremendous effect on circulation. i've actually suffered 2 moderate potassium attacks since i've been on this medication and now eat at least 1 bananna a day (they work much better tan supplements since usually potassium in pill form is not very well absorbed)

also look into Raynauds Disease, its fairly common and i have it myself and have noticed it worse from the adderall dramaticly

Why the cold toes??
I am not an expert on the matter of ADHD or cold appendages by any means. I only have anecdotal evidence on the subjects. I wonder; have you considered taking a holistic approach to "healing your ADHD". I am very interested in the subject as well because I am a 27 years old female who has always had "crack head energy" without ever taking drugs. Everyone says I must be ADHD positive (ha-ha very funny, right?). I do drink and smoke cigarettes, but not in excess. I think being an Aries, passionate, spiritual, loving, etc. of a person has everything to do with my over the top energy level. I am very accomplished so far in my life and whenever I am met with a challenge (aka: something I don't know about yet) I dive into it like I am back in college again. I am very happy and proud with whom I am including my ADHD personality. This brings me to my point and the reason I found your blog: I have recently been suffering from frozen toes. I am not on any medications or anything like that and my doctor says everything related to my health is in tip top shape! So my question/problem is why then do I have frozen toes?? If I ever figure it out I will send an update post on it. It could hopefully prove beneficial to your situation!
