What are the side effects of skipping the 'inactive' week of birth control? I did this for the first time, and ever since the week I was supposed to have had my period, my breasts have been SOOOOO sore! Sad

Anybody know if this is normal? What other side effects are there?

Wait, so you skipped it like you just didn't take the pills, or you skipped it like you started your next pill pack instead?

If you mean you skipped and went to the next pack, then breast soreness is very normal. Actually, breast soreness on while on birth control at any time is a normal side effect.

Yeah... also, spotting and irregular periods, and any symptoms otherwise associated with pms lol.

Back to Back Bc Pill Packs
I just did the same thing. I am on Demulen and went from one pack to another. My breasts are so tender and swollen (I'm in the 3rd week of the 2nd pack). I also feel a little nauseous and light headed. I think that it's the same thing you were going through. So, is it not a good idea to take 2 packs in a row?

It is not harmful if that's what you mean. You get different side effects but you will not hurt yourself by doing it.

no, you dont need to take the 'inactive' pills, they are just sugar pills to get you in the habit of taking a pill everyday.

I am never skipping the inactive week ever again. The first and last time I did that I had some funky brown discharge for a whole month. Then my period was late and which made me paranoid because I had sex the month before. Mad

This is correct.

I have been on birth control for six years and never bother taking the inactive/placeholder pills. Why wake up early to take a sugar pill?

Those pills only exist to keep you on track and remind you to start your next pack on time. If you can remember this on your own, it's perfectly fine to skip them.

Breast soreness is also pretty normal, both for girls on and off the pill. I had it for the first time a few months ago and I couldn't even wear a bra. It sucks to have tender tits, but it will pass. Wink

Personally I need to take them.

I just need that kind of continuity so as not to forget to start again. !! Very Happy

Haha... I used to take them, but after so many years of taking BC it's programmed into my brain. Shocked
