I have noticed that the news doesn't cover some things because they're so terrible. Should the news cover stories like this? if so why.. If not why?

What Media Hides
What does this have to do with Health/Medical questions?

This appears to be a general question about the Media, not health/medical.

The Media reports what it wants, if you are upset or concerned, why don't you write to the newspapers or tv stations.

This is a general debate forum where members can bring up any issue they like and debate their point of view to their hearts content.

Please read the forum heading before you post responses like this. It is really quite unnecessary.

For a week? They went on with that crap for over 2 months... They seem to always get EVERTHING when it comes to celebs, but not enough when it comes to real life stuff. Or rather important stuff.

Exactly! Why in the world are we covering stupid stories like Lindsey Lohan and her drug addiction when their is genocide and warfare occurring all over the world? Cover the things that actually matter peope! Evil or Very Mad

Have you seen the YouTube comments? The only way you'd get a greater outpouring of appalling racist hatred and anger is if you put it on the news.

Is the news a reflection of what is reality, a reflection of what people want to see, or an intentional distraction from real world events?

I vote for B. and C.

but what actually matters they hide form us
so we wont know
how many iraqi children we killed yesterday
or how many lives we destroyed last tuesday...or whatever

apparently lindsay lohan matters to us?
so they feed us all this BS on the news hopeing to get our minds and attention off the war, the rest of the world, what DOES really matter

Local news media...reason #431,265 why we don't have a TV. If you live inteh US you are not going to get real news on any TV station. Just forget it. When I still had TV I relied on the BBC news. I listen to Air America Radio and I listen to NPR if I want to know what is going on. But I still don't think we know the half of it.

When I watch the news I try and get BBC or something similar. I tried watching KTLA morning news and all they talked about was celebrity gossip and stupid gadgets to cool off. They didn't even do local stories or the weather for that matter! I finally turned it off and told myself I would not try to watch it again.

It kinda made me sad since I used to watch the news all the time and it was much better a few years agi.

Thank you for your reply... You better cut and paste that comment and put it on MOST of the general debate questions. HOWEVER, this is a health question. I will re- word it just for you...Do you think that we should be aware of the horrible things that happen in our world today.. BECAUSE if we knew such things could happen we would be able to prepare ourselves for the worst. I live in the small part of our town every night at 11:00PM I take my pup for a walk. After watching some coverage that is NEVER shown on the TV because its so bad. I have come to the realization that something pretty bad could happen to me. Not that I wasn't a little nervous before.. I just think that there are things that we 'should' know about. Which is much more important than Church donations, fender benders, House sales, About little timmys day at day camp or at the beach... I just think that we should know EVERYTHING the good the bad and the ugly. We need to be more aware of the things that are happening. I watched many clips of the things that are hidden and it was like watching a horror movie and it made me think twice about my well being when I am out in society. I know I have to be a bit more aware of my surroundings. I feel that were being SHELTERED from this stuff, and it can cause alot of serious problems. - Death, rape, getting beat, burned, tided up etc... Which I think has alot to do with my health.. Therefor this is a health question.. Want to debate this?

Yes I agree like our lives.. You know how many people on this planet drink and drive.. Well, I think you know its more than Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.. Same with the drugs..

IE A story I just watched showed two guys on meth cut out a guys eyes and threw him into a bush.. Like theres a drug story. It makes Lindsay Lohan sound like a princess..

I think that its what people want to see.. People want to see the gardens that grow in there community, but really is that news? I think that it's a distraction from real world events. I think we need to see what can really happen..
