Q: Ortho Tricylen Lo And Your Cycle

I have been on ortho tricyclen lo for a while, I had started taking it to regulate my cycle which was very irregular when I began. Now that I have been on it I have noticed that instead of having my period for the week of placebo pills, I start three days in and finish the first week of a new pack. So does this mean if I were to start having sex I would not really be protected for those three placebo pill days? So should I start fresh in hopes to properly regulate my period on the day my period actually starts or does it matter?

No it doesn't matter at all. You may find that your period adjusts to be in the placebo week, but if you are still bleeding when you start your active pills that's ok. You are still protected.

All it means is that your body is a little slow to adjust to the change in hormones. As long as you keep taking the pills like you are scheduled to, you will be protected.
