You should talk to your doctor about what your having HPV might mean for your baby.

"If a pregnant woman has ever had genital warts, she should tell her clinician. A clinician can remove warts before the birth to keep them from bleeding during delivery. A cesarean section may be needed if warts are likely to bleed heavily.

Very rarely, women transmit genital warts to the fetus during vaginal delivery. This can result in serious medical conditions for the newborn, including problems with breathing and severe, sometimes fatal, developmental disabilities."

Yes, you can give someone warts even if you use a condom.

If your current partner does not trust you and is accusing you of cheating, then he is certainly not worth being with and not raising a baby with anyway. Many people have HPV without any symptoms at all. So you could have had HPV long before you met him. So he has no reason to suggest that you're cheating just based on that.

Don't worry about finding men in the future. Many people have genitals warts. Just be upfront and honest about it. There are plenty of guys out there who also have it, so they certainly should not be worried about being with you.

That's good that you have never had them.

Since you are pregnant, you should still talk to your ob-gyn about it though. Pregnant women should see their ob-gyns often anyway, and they should always discuss any diseases/conditions they have just in case.

Even if you never break out in warts, it would still be possible for you to pass HPV on to any partners you have.

You can have HPV for years before you ever find out. Your partner can have it and never know. In fact, he could have given it to you.

It is true that you can wear condoms and still get genital warts. It is a skin to skin contact and a condom doesn't always cover every single bit of skin.

Do you have the type of HPV that causes warts or the high risk type of HPV. The high risk type will not cause warts but can cause cervical abnormalities.

relax, if u do have hpv which i doubt because if u did it would be very noticable but it can be controlled with healthy eating. uMM as i said if u indeed had the disease u can get a cesary which is when they get your baby by opening your lower stomach, its painless my mom got one when i was born, she didnt feel a thing and it was just a small opening on the lower end of your stomach, usually thats wat they do when women suffer from hsv outbreaks or anything. But relax your ok u are going to be a mother for crying out loud congrats that is something that only a few are able to be, not anyone can be a mother. Those who can are because they are magnificent and capable of making a family. Congratulations on being a mother and i wish you the best of luck on you and your baby. Eat healthy and plenty ok? forget about your weight remember ur eating for 2 people now not 1 well 1.3 people hehe

your husband will never leave u because of a stupid disease, dont u know that love is more powerful then anything. If i found out my gf had aids or anything i would still be with her no matter wat. wHY because nothing would be the same without her, Life without love sucks. Which is why your husband cant leave u because he cant live without u. If u do have hpv which again idoubt he wouldNT care trust me, he loves u as much as he loves cake TIMEs infinity so dont worry.

one last thing if u dont have hpv which positive u dont, i suggest u get a vaccine for it women have a vaccine now, but get tested for hpv and then ask for the vaccine after u have had ur baby, that way in the future u wont worry unnecesarily. AT 17 weeks and already worrying about how ur baby will come to this world is very responsible, u infact will be a magnificent mom.

Don't worry you will be alright. The hpv warts are very easily controlled and they go away..Just let your ob/gyn take care it.

She said she has HPV. She can't get a vaccination once she already has it.

As long as you don't have a breakout at the time of delivery (which they might opt for a c-section), the chances of your baby getting HPV from you are low.

HPV and my pregnant daughter
My 18 yr old daughter had a pap smear done in Oct. and the tests came back good, then in January she found out she was pregnant, she set up her first OB/GYN appt. and they alo done a pap smear on her and that one came back abnormal, meaning she tested positive for the HPV virus. I to have concerns about the unborn child getting the virus and will talk to her dr. about that, but one concern I have is can they tell how long she has had it. She goes in soon for a scope exam to look at the HPV and I am hoping that something canhelp her. So can anyone help me on my concern....if she didn't test positive in Oct. then she must have contracted the virus from after her pap smear till her latest one.....

every dr says something different. My mum has hpv she caught it through my dad who was/is her only sexual partner. She was told by her specialist that having active hpv she would have passed it onto her daughters. I have not yet been checked for it as she only just found out she had it and has had it for over 25yrs. I am 27weeks pregnant and I am getting different information from everyone I ask. One Dr said I wont have it unless I slept with someone who does, and another said yes my mum would of passed it to me and I in turn will pass it to my daughter. Its annoying they can't check me for it til after I give birth and I have asked 5 seperate doctors about this and they all seem to give me different information. But the specialist said that yes I would of caught it .. so If he was right then I have HPV my baby will have HPV and so will yours. 3dr's said that would be the case 2 said it wouldn't so yeah ...

it is noticible???? whattttt HPV can cause growths on the cervix linking to cervical cancer it is not noticable at all that is why 4 out of 5 woman have it and are un aware. It is not a bad STD and the only thing I am aware it does is that it may cause cervical cancer if growths are left untreated. My mother has it and passed it to me and I passed it to my daughter .. we do not recieve treatment and have no 'warts' or anything. Nothing has happened to any of us my mum has had it for 25years ... :S

HPV the truth
Men can't be tested for it unless they have visible warts, which doesn't cover all the different types of HPV. There are over 100 different strands. It is important that you keep getting it checked so that you can prevent the chance of cervical cancer. Be aware that there are treatments for HPV. And btw you can get the vaccination after it has been treated and cleared. People should be more informed before just spewing information out there. Web MD is your best friend and so is your doctor. Use them.

both you and your boyfriend could have contracted it very easily..and since the symptoms do not show on men then he could have very well given it to you. As of your baby, they will be fine. It might be an uncomfortable labor and delivery seeing as the warts could rip and bleed but the child will be fine. Remember, HPV is the most common STD and a very low risk one. Just make sure you get regular checks at the gyno to catch early cell changes.
