A friend of mine was talking to me about her aunt who is a rather large woman not finding out she was pregnant for several months and I was wondering if it takes overweight women longer to achieve a positive pregnancy test?

My friend is rather overweight and has an irregular cycle to begin with but she is now more than two weeks late, she was complaining that her breasts were hurting, nipples swollen with blue veins coming up, and really bad heartburn (which ends up causing nausea) and she's terrified that she may be pregnant but due to her weight, her body is absorbing or recycling more of the hormone and giving her negative test results. I didn't know whether hCG, like estrogen, is fat soluble or not so I didn't know what to tell her.

Any information would be appreciated.
