Q: Hepatitis C - Tingling, Numbness In Toes & Foot Pad

I have had Hep C for about 25 years. In the last 2 months I have had tingling and numbness in my toes and the pads of my feet.

My doctor is concerned the symptoms may be related to the Hepatitis.

I would like to know more about what my symptoms mean and what treatment can do. A recent test showed my form of Hep C is difficult to treat, so I am worried about the effects on-going.

Thanks!

I Get This Too!
I have only had Hep C for 2 years but I am experiencing similar issues. Mine don't tingle for no reason though- It seems if I elevate my hands, by simply reading a book, my fingers and hands will get numb and tingle. My feet do it too if I have them in one place too long. Have you found out anything else? I have so many questions about this disease but I dont seem to get much response from these boards. I really need a support group and people to talk to.

Hi,
Sorry bout the delay in response.

I think the first thing you should do is buy and religiously take Milk Thistle. I buy Vitamin Shoppe's Max Strength version with "Extract 175 mg. 80% Silymarin."

Secondly, you should seriously consider a round of acupuncture, say 10 sessions. I had regular low-grade pain every day for the first couple years (I've now had Hep C 25 years) until I tried acupuncture and have never had it since unless I had some very specific problem and then it was short term, often ended by a few sessions of acupuncture.

I think acupuncture very good for chronic problems, and I'm no new-age acolyte.

I actually now think it probable my tingling is not due to Hep but another problem.

Anyway, good luck finding support, be sure to give some too.

I hv Hep B for some 18 years and I had read somewhere that if I took Milk Thistle and Silymarin, that shld help with my Hep B. Can anyone please help me? I also have Kidney failure and with these two serious problems, I am very very low. I have disabled parents to look after and I dont know who will take care of them if anything happened to me.

Hep c and foot pain
Hi, I too have Hep C, for over 30 years and two liver transplants. I also have been diagnosed with Diabetes. This is the reason they say I have the foot problems. I don't believe this to be true. I believe it is due to the Hep C, or possibly a side effect to my meds. I'm currently taking Lyrica. It does help and gets me sleep along with a sleeping pill. I took Neurontin, but the Lyrica works much better. Good luck to all of you with this problem and terrible dissease.
