Q: Enlarged Ovary Causing Cramps In Early Pregnancy

I am almost 6 weeks pregnant and I have been experiencing pretty severe cramping. There has been no blood and my OB nurse has said its probably nothing and just to relax and call them if I see blood. A friend of mine experienced very similar cramping (more on one side than other although pain throughout uterus, same side as ovulated from last, feel like severe menstrual cramps that come and go throughout day and night) and her Dr. told her that the ovary she ovulated from had become enlarged which sometimes happens. Hers went away after a few weeks and her pregnancy has progressed perfectly since then.

I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this - it is hard not to worry and it would be comforting to hear that others had this same feeling and that it turned out to be nothing to worry about.
Thanks!

I am 6 weeks 6 days pregnant. I too have enlarged ovaries. My doctor says this is normal. The baby's heart beat is there and looks great! I had a miscarraige last year, with SEVERE cramping. Just take it easy. Listen to your doctor, and be calm Smile

enlarged overies
I have cramping due to enlarged ovaries. I'm supposed to avoid intercourse, lay off the work outs, and drink things with electrolytes. I'm 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat as well. The doc doesn't seem to concerned, just airing on the side of caution.
