Q: If You Saw a Toddler And Baby

If you saw a toddler and a baby in the back of a parked car on a busy road in the town, away from houses, unattended for the whole time you were nearby (15 minutes), and saw no signs of any parent returning, would you think it was ok and ignore it?

I dont sound paranoid then?
I saw them about half an hour ago on the way home with jay, we stood around for a while and walked the rest of that road really slowly, no one returned to the car. I was thinking maybe its nothing I should mind my own business, but I couldnt stop thinking about it the whole walk home, so I phoned the police station (not the emergency number) and told them I was concerned because......, and they said they will send a unit to check it out.

Its just not right to do that imo, leave kids as young as that alone in a car...unless you can still see them like at a car park while you get a parking ticket, but as I said there was no one around. I saw a couple of white people walk past but these babies were black. I had to tell someone.

Leaving kids alone in a car is hugely dangerous. It's possible it's actually illegal. You were right to call someone.

its illegal over here to do that. I would never leave them in the car, i even take my kids out to check the mail. If i saw kids sitting in a car as hot as it is in most places i would def call the police and let them know, the temp rises fast and high in a car. If my kids are ever in my car it is still on with the a.c and im usually right next to it. or have the doors open when i am running groceries in the house quickly.

I would not leave an animal or a toddler or a baby or a senior citizen or even an older child in a car for 15 minutes! I would definitely call the police and stick around until they got there! Things could happen and it is just not right!

You did well Girlfriend......I think I would have called the law a lot sooner, but knowing me, I'd risk the ass whipping by trying to get the car door open to get the children out. Under no circumstances should these children been left unattended in htat car...for no amount of time.......no justification. There are loving people like myself out here who would take these kids and give them decent homes..... Laughing

You did the right thing! Who the heck would leave little kids alone in the car. I hope it isn't as hot there as it is here in Kansas. I'm 19 and can't even sit in the car in our 105 degree heat, I can't imagine being a little kid. Do you guys have any laws about that? It illegal here to leave children under 12 in the car alone.

It was warm but cooling off because it was 6pm. They werent in danger from heat, jay was wearing a light raincoat so it wasnt that warm by then.

I saw the toddler about 2 years old moving around in the back, thats what caught my eye. Then saw the baby about 6 months old in a car seat in the back beside the toddler. Looked in the front, no one there. Looked all around outside, no one walking towards the car. So we stood around nearby so I could see incase someone returned, but no one did. I didnt have a phone on me or change for the pay phone so went home. We walked really slow up the rest of that road and I kept looking back to see if the car was still there and it was until it was out of view.

I gave the police my name and address, haven't heard anything. I dont expect to, the parent probably left them to get some shopping im guessing....hope they got told off. We are going out in half an hour, so we'll walk that way just to make sure the car isnt still there.

jenniek I have no idea if its illegal here.
