Q: Pregnancy after D&C

Extremely eHealthy
I had a D&C on July 12th because I found out that the baby had died. So I waited a week before having sex again with my dh. We have been having unprotected sex this whole time. About four days ago I started having cramps and a really sore back so I thought that af was coming. The cramps would just come and go. Then this morning I woke up and felt like I had a hang-over but I don't drink so I don't know what is going on. I still haven't got my period.

So I am wondering if you think that it could be possible to be pregnant that soon after a D&C. I don't know how soon you ovulate after a D&C, and if it would be too soon to test. I welcome anyone's thoughts and experiences with a situation like this.

Thanks.

It is possible though not probable that you could ovulate on time after a D&C. On the other hand, it's possible that your body is gearing up to ovulate about now--I would often get cramps, sore breasts, and backaches around ovulation during my cycles or it could be signs of PMS and your period will come on soon. You could probably test now if you like or wait a week or so and test again if your period doesn't show (keeping in mind that your cycle may be wacky because of the D&C).

Symptoms can be really confusing and don't necessarily mean anything; they could be signs of ovulation, PMS, or early pregnancy. When I found out I was pregnant, all I had was a missed period accompanied by period-like cramping--so very little in the way of symptoms.
