Q: Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo....side Effects Anyone???

I was on regular Ortho Tri Cyclen off and on for almost 10 years. I liked to go off of it for a few months at a time to give my body a rest from all of the hormones. Recently I decided to go back on, but this time I decided to try the Lo version. I made this choice because I have horrible PMS symptoms (mood swings, cramps, bloating, sweet tooth, oily skin, bad night sweats starting two days before period, then freezing no matter what temp the day before period starts) and I thought the lower dosage of hormones would help with that. I am 26, 5'9" and 108 lbs....I was told the less you weigh the less amount of homone dosage in the pill is needed in your body. So far I am done with my first week of Lo and I have been feeling crampy and bloated, tired all the time, a little naseaous, and quite irritable. The abdominal bloating and cramping is what is making me the craziest. My period is not even due for 3 weeks!!! Are these common side effects?? Has anyone else expereienced them???
Thanks!!!

It could just be because it's your first week and your body is adjusting. Give it some time.

Also, it is not necessary to give your body a break from birth control. Birth control simply evens out your natural wacky hormones, so if you go on and off of it, you will just make it more wacky instead of evening it out!
