I was wondering if someone could explain MRI with contrast? I have had 2 MRI' in the last 2mos. and my Dr. nurse called late yesterday evening telling me that I need to have another MRI done this time with contrast:

1) what exactly is contrast, are there risks involved?
2) What are things that he may be looking for with this new MRI?

I have lived with back pain for so long I almost don't know how to describe the symptoms anymore, the stabbing tingling sensations are just a part of my life now. Any information would be helpful.
