Hi, I just started feeding my 5 month old cereal and some veggies. He is still taking breastmilk via a bottle.

I was wondering what kind of water should I give him (if he needs a bit..sometimes when it is so hot/humid out, I find I maybe should give a bit of water..also to help prevent constipation)...
What kind??
I have been boiling water, but when can I start to use 'regular' water from the tap?? or is this contraindicated?
Or, should I be buying bottled water..and what type??..I know there is purified, distilled, etc.etc..all kinds...what kind do I give him??

HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks,
Susie.

I give my son distilled water. I was told to put a pinch of sugar in it so it has more of a taste but I dont know. My son drinks the water fine without sugar.

Giving water...
Unless your water is from a well, it should be safe. If you feel better about boiling it then you should do that. Greater safety precautions never hurt anyone.

i give my son boiled water too, just to make sure its pure as it can get.

i never heard of putting a pinch of sugar in the water though..id think that because of the sweetness they'd get used to it and not want it unless it has a sugary taste to it..

I ALWAYS used straight from tap. It is not harmful and contains flouride (in most areas, check your local water supply to see)which IS needed, even before the teeth cut. Well water is a no-no.
