Panicked! Problem In Throat For Last 8 Months! Posted: 03-16-04 12:07pm
Please help.
About 8 months ago I started having alot
of clear, salty, slightly whited specked
phlem that i've been coughing up. I
cough throughout the night, and day. The
phlem keeps reforming. I have also
noticed that on occasion throughout the
day that there is sort of an "icy hot"
"menthol-like" feeling when I breathe in
(it is not constant. Usually happens in
late evening and night, and even then it's
not all the time). More frequently
lately i've noticed a more difficult time
breathing and swallowing sometimes,
everyday although as the other symptoms,
usually more at night and not all the
time. It feels as if there is a lump
sitting in my throat choking me when this
happens and I feel slight pressure when I
try to swallow, although I can still
swallow everything. I don't smoke, i'm
in my early twenties, and i've been to the
doctor's. He's told me that it could be
asthma, panic attacks, allergies. I
don't buy it. I don't know alot about
asthma, but the symptoms don't seem to
match, I have had panic attacks, and they
are nothing like this, and I don't know to
much as to what allergies could do. Can
someone please help? I am scared to
death.

When I first started having panic attacks
that also happened to me. I had so much
junk in my lungs and throat that I didn't
know what was going on. But it was panic
attacks, and when I worried it would make
me gag and cough and have problems
breathing.
But, if you don't buy it, get a second
opinion!

Do you really think that they are panic
attacks?
I mean, can you always be coughing up
phlem and it be panic attacks?
I thought that panic attacks didn't have
constant symptoms.
Can they really?

They can yeah. Everyone's anxiety is
different in some way. I mean, it may be
some other kind of problem that you need
to rule out, but it could very well be
panic attacks. It is weird, but it could
be. Sorry I cannot explain better!

My Son Has Tightness In Throat Posted: 04-26-04 03:05am
Hello,
my son has tightness in his throat and it
feels like a lump sitting in his throat
pit. He had a couple of episodes when he
felt like he was choking and went into a
panic attack because of the sensation.
He ended up in the e.R. This weekend and
they used a scope to take a look in his
throat. It turns out that the lump in
his throat is a polyp. This is causing
the sensations, resulting in the panic
attacks.
He'll have to have it removed. We're
making an appointment with an
ear/nose/throat specialist through our
family doctor a.S.A.P.
Perhaps all of you who have this
sensation should do the same????
