How soon does breast milk form in the breast when your pregnant? I am 3 1/2 months pregnant and I wanted to know how soon does it take to have breast milk form. I was in such denial when I first found out that I was pregnant that I can't think back to the day when my breast frist became tender.

Breast milk doesn't form while you are pregnant. Your breasts will not make milk until the baby is sucking on them. It takes approximately 3 days before your milk comes in after birth. Until then, you will produce something called colostrum. It is very nutrient rich and full of antibodies babies need. Your boobs hurt from hormonal changes.

Yes, the PP is correct. But your breasts can start leaking colostrum in the 2nd trimester in some cases. Colostrum is often clear at first then yellowish then more milky looking. My breasts started leaking colostrum (just a few drops & clearish) at 18 weeks!
