So I started taking Ambien because I have insomnia bouts occasionally. It worked okay for the first night or so, but after that I started having panic attacks that were constant, literally days. I know some of my anxiety is due to some of the stress in my life right now, but I have never felt anything like this. I'm wondering if the ambien possibly is inducing stress/anxiety in me. I have only taken it for about 1.5 weeks so it's not a withdrawal thing. When I take the ambien I feel relaxed but not tired, but then after it wears off anxiety kicks so bad. So I just don't know if it's pure stress or this ambien. I didn't take it last night and took a valium to fall asleep and i slept better than I had in weeks, although when I woke up I still had minor anxiety, but nothing like it was.

so can anyone tell me if ambien has an adverse affect of causing panic and anxiety?
