Hi everyone, i am new and this is my first post so hopefully someone may have some advice for me?
The problem started a couple of years ago whilst in spain, after a couple of days my lips started to tingle like i was getting a coldsore but in the middle of bottom lip, by the next morning my lip was so swollen i had about 5 blistery lumps on my bottom lip and it was very painfull and uncomfortable because of the heat, , i went t chemist and got some zovirax and germaline just to knumb it, and after about 5 days they started to be less painfull and dry up, but did sadly ruin a bit of the holiday for me!, anyway the otherday after our one day of summer and a day lounging about in the garden, it has happened again an yet again is very painfull, as i am going to majorca in 4 weeks time i am now starting to dred it, an my quiesion to everyone is ???????

Is there anything i can take or do to stop it happening in the first place any old wifes tales or try to prevent it from being so bad?

i look forward to someones advice

Hayley x

Hi
SOrry no one responded to this post. I too will have an outbreak if I allow sun on my face. WHen I go out now, I use SUNBLOCK 70. Yesp, I even coat my lips. I know its gross and you aren't suppose too, but chapstick was not doing it. Stress, sun, even certain foods trigger these outbreaks. My daughter had the exact same symptoms you did while we were in Cancun. I am told you can take 1000mg of L-lysine at first outbreak, then take 1000mg per day. I had my dentist write me a presc. for Valtrex......expensive, but gets rid of the fever blisters a lot quicker. I also like Abreva. It seems to work when I only have one. When I feel that "crawling "sensation, I know its times for more drastioc measures. HOpefully you'll come back to eHealth and see this!
