Hi everyone, i am new and this is my first post so hopefully someone may have some advice for me?
The problem started a couple of years ago whilst in spain, after a couple of days my lips started to tingle like i was getting a coldsore but in the middle of bottom lip, by the next morning my lip was so swollen i had about 5 blistery lumps on my bottom lip and it was very painfull and uncomfortable because of the heat, , i went t chemist and got some zovirax and germaline just to knumb it, and after about 5 days they started to be less painfull and dry up, but did sadly ruin a bit of the holiday for me!, anyway the otherday after our one day of summer and a day lounging about in the garden, it has happened again an yet again is very painfull, as i am going to majorca in 4 weeks time i am now starting to dred it, an my quiesion to everyone is ???????

Is there anything i can take or do to stop it happening in the first place any old wifes tales or try to prevent it from being so bad?

i look forward to someones advice Very Happy

Extremely eHealthy
My mom gets them from too much sun exposure. She puts heavy duty sunblock on her lips or zinc oxide. She also almost always wears a sun hat or visor. Sometimes if she's caught out in the direct sun she just holds a hankie over her mouth. This seems to work for her, but it ain't very attractive! LOL. She has a prescription for Valtrex for outbreaks. I don't know if there is a suppression therapy drug you can take daily to decrease the likelihood of outbreaks of oral cold sores or not. Anyone know?
