Q: After Sex Sting

Well this is really embarrasing but after i have sex my vagina hurts, not all the time but when i urinate. And it also seems to swell up.. not alot but it is noticable, and after maybe a day it goes back to normal.. I dont know what it is.. but im worried about it and i dont know what to do..
I thought at first it was from having sex too much.. like his penis rubbing against the walls of my vagina too much to cause irritation but now i dont know and im really worried...

thanks

I wouldn't be worried. Your original assessment was probably the correct one.

Friction
just a wild guess but sounds like you two need to use some lubricant to suppliment your natural lubrcation so that there is not too much dry friction . and maybe just maybe douche after sex to keep everything clean at least once in a while ... be safe be happy ...wazzywoman

I advise against douching that often!! Douching isn't healthy in the first place, and douching after every single sexual encounter would seriously mess up the woman's natural lubrication and ph, inviting infection and yeast.

Douching is cleaning out the inside of the vagina through an artificial means. You basically squirt cleansing stuff up inside of your vagina to clean it. However, the vagina is a very delicate area. Cleaning it can upset the carefully monitored PH (acid/base) levels inside of the vagina. This PH level is necessary to keep bacteria and yeast under control. If this balance is messed up, you can be more susceptible to yeast infections and other bacterial infections.

The vagina naturally cleans itself; that's what the common discharge is for.

She's right, doctors would tell you not to do it too. But try using lubricant to reduce the irritation after sex. Especially if you are having sex often or for a long time, sometimes our natural lubricant just isn't enough.
