I am in my second cycle after starting the Nuva Ring and my periods are only 2-3 days long. I was wondering if this is normal or if this is a sign I could be pregnant. Thanks for yr help

Okay lol, that's a relief. I hate my period and now I love only having really short ones. The only thing is I'm experiencing a bit of weight gain. It has prompted me to start working out regularly (I never exercised before) but if it keeps up I might consider going back to the pill. Pill=forgetting to take it=pregnancy scares

Pregnant?
I have been on Nuva Ring for a little over a year now, and I really like it. Before I started, my periods used to last for 5 days. Now, they are lighter, and tend to only last for about 3. I think what you are experiencing is normal!

Has anyone continuously not used condoms with the Nuva Ring? Just curiuos if anyone has gotten pregnant while on the ring, but not using condoms. Please respond.

I was on the ring for about a year and sure didn't get pregnant (and don't use condoms).

In fact, about 98% of women don't get pregnant on the ring, they are slightly more effective than the pill (because they're easier to use) and that is without condoms.

Bleeding From the Ring?
Hey, just wanted to know if any of you have experiended problems with bleeding during sex? My boyfriend and I were having sex the other night and we stopped halfway through because I realized I was bleeding. I'm not sure if the ring may have jabbed me and caused this or not? Any advice??? Sad

It's more likely that it didn't have anything to do with the ring- it's really easy for the vaginal walls or the labia to get scratched or something during foreplay or sex. The ring is so pliable and smooth, it just doesn't seem likely that it made you bleed! But I guess anything is possible.

When I used the ring, after about 10 months of using it, after sex I would feel really irritated, like his penis had been wrapped in sandpaper. I never had any bleeding, though. But I know it wasn't a lubrication issue, because we use lube quite often. The doc said it couldn't have been the ring but I swear it was because as soon as I got off it the irritation went away.

Unfortunately, that was the only side effect I had from it, and I miss it Sad

a Little Relieved!
Thanks for the post! That makes me feel a little better! I love the ring, and I have yet to experience the side effect that you did. Sorry to hear you had to go through that Sad My boyfriend and I were just so caught off guard last night from the bleeding. I never had that before, and I was not even feeling any type of pain or discomfort.

Thanks again for the help! Take Care!

I had the same irritation and burning after sex (as you probably remember from another post) after a few months of using the Ring. I also had the first yeast infection of my life. I think that it must've just irritated my skin/vaginal walls.... and also the yeast infection did that too.

It all got better when I switched back to the pill, but if you don't have irritation problems then the ring seems pretty great (easier to remember!!).

The slight bleeding could mean the ring has caused some irritation. The ring is still very very new and I don't even think the manufacturers are fully aware of possible side effects - so doctors may not be linking symptoms to the cause.
